Broadway Babies, Singing Show Tunes for Seniors
The New York Times: “Oh, baby, give me one more chance,” sang Corey J, a former Little Michael in the Broadway musical “MJ.” Dressed in a black rimmed hat and a black turtleneck, jacket and pants, he slipped through the explosion of joy that is the chord progression of the Jackson 5 song “I Want You Back.”

This is really beautiful. I think that the entertainment industry in general but specifically theatre and Broadway tend to not treat their older members the way they should. They are often taken for granted and almost thrown away when they are no longer useful with a select exception including people like Chita Rivera, Patti Lupone, etc... So this idea was absolutely beautiful. Bringing the new and the old generations together like that to enjoy music and theatre was so meaningful. Especially to the older generation it seems. Reading those descriptions of how excited the elderly were for the concert was so incredibly heartwarming. And how into it the kids got through the whole thing was very nice to see as well. I hear a lot of stories about how it is often the young and the old who can most share the most pure parts of humanity like song and dance and this really drives that home. Its times like these when I think, maybe the kids are alright.
