I never got to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child while it was on Broadway and I have always wished I did because it won so many awards and everyone who saw it said they loved it. I am excited for it to get a school edition because every high school student knows the Harry Potter series and I bet every drama club around the country would love to do this show once it is released to be licensed to everyone. When reading about how they chose the high schools they did, the criteria they mentioned were intriguing and something I had never thought of before. Considering the budget of the drama program, the facilities available to the programs, and the equipment they had available are all criteria that I never had thought about for choosing schools to put on the pilot high school production of a show.

Wow this is so exciting! I never watched Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway or tour but I am so happy to hear that it is entering licensing for schools to be able to perform it. I never knew so much consideration went into selecting these schools, such as factoring the proximity to the Broadway Licensing Global's London and New York offices. I at first didn't understand why that needed to be a circumstance. It is so cool that Broadway Licensing Global will be providing these schools with resources to fully produce the show. It is allowing schools that might be under funded to be equipped with the proper stage, lighting, and sound equipment to have a successful show. It is wonderful to see the world of theater becoming more accessible to students like this and I can't wait to see the creativeness that these high schools will bring and congratulations to them for being at the forefront of theater.

Ever since I was a kid, I have loved the Harry Potter series. Though, I am not J.K. Rowling’s biggest fan, the Harry Potter series will always have such a special place in my heart because it brings me so much nostalgia. I love that the cursed child is getting a high school edition because I think it would just bring so much joy to whatever theater is doing it. Another great show I did this last year was PUFFS, and I absolutely loved working on that show as it is a parody of the Harry Potter series. I think I would equally enjoy working on Harry Potter and the cursed child. A quote said in this article that I loved was “"These pilot productions are a learning process for us, to ensure that any school, regardless of its resources or budget, can produce this show with success…” (Cercone). It really means that these large production companies want to take feasibility into account when releasing the ability to purchase rights for this show.

I unfortunately never got to see the Harry Potter musical while it was playing however I am not sure if I would have wanted to. I hold the Harry Potter Books and movies close to my heart as I have a lot of fond memories of them when I was a little kid. Things we did as a family together that involved this wonderful story, and I would not want anything to ruin my impression of Harry Potter. So I was torn, I was also torn because I already felt like while they actually did a decent job with the Harry Potter movies, I do not particularly like turning books into movies because it can ruin them. So, when the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child musical came out I was skeptical. Although at this point I have heard so many good things I would like to go see it, if for nothing else than the technical effects of it. I will be interested to see what becomes of it at a highschool level, as I understand some of the effects will be difficult to pull off well in a lower budget production. All in all I do hope it goes on tour again so I can experience it and make an informed decision on the show.
