Ren Klyce (‘The Killer’ sound designer, editor, mixer) video interview
GoldDerby: You wouldn’t think that Ren Klyce would have a whole lot more to learn about his job as a sound professional on movies. He’s been at it for nearly 30 years, going back to “Se7en” in 1995 and presiding as director David Fincher‘s designated sound guy ever since.

This interview with Ren Klyce, the sound designer for David Fincher's new movie, "The Killer," was very interesting both in terms of how Klyce does his work and how he thinks. I really admire his attitude on his job and how he is still learning. I think many people expect there will become a point where they have reached a peak in their career and will only be continuing, not learning anymore, but I agree with Klyce that this is not the case. Even someone who has been working as a sound designer on movies for a very long time, like Klyce, still finds new work challenging yet interesting at the same time. Additionally, I found it interesting reading about how Klyce listens to the sounds of places and then finds ways to incorporate them into movies. I don't know too much about sound, and I think it would be quite cool to live life constantly paying attention to background noises, as myself and I believe many other people tend to push them to the background and not be fully aware of them.
