Pantone announces Peach Fuzz as the 2024 Color of the Year
www.archpaper.com: With another year coming to and end, it’s time to prepare for the one ahead. In the design world, this passage of time is marked by Pantone’s annual Color of the Year announcement. For 2024, the color to watch is PANTONE 13-1023, also known as Peach Fuzz.

Okay, I love this color. I feel like peach has been one of the main “it” colors for a few years now so I suppose it was about time it got to be number one. I feel like this is a good shade of peach too. Just a little muted which is cute. Not too in your face that it is too tropical, it feels like a nice breeze on a summer afternoon. I don’t think there is much weight in the color of the year but I do find it so fun. One statement color to define a whole year feels quite ambitious, how do we know that this one color will be the vibes for the whole year? I guess maybe by deciding so early, we can preemptively decide the vibes of the year. I don’t know how it all works, perhaps there is a bigger power at play here. One that uses colors as a guiding force to our heard mentality and there is a plan for all of it. But it is a pretty color!
Guys. Respectfully, what is this? Don’t get me wrong, a good light, airy, happy, ballerina esk color is pretty but I am quite confused as to its choice as color of the year. To me color of the year is one of those colors where you could paint the whole room that color, like walls, ceiling, and all. And while I guess in a very specific style of house I could see this being a possibility I feel like as a whole that is not really an option. This is why I feel like Peach Fuzz was not the best choice for color of the year. However I am also just not the largest orange fan so I do see my bias and understand that other people do like the color orange and that it works for some people and it is okay that I am not one of those people.
So cute! I had no idea that Pantone set a color of the year like this and I think that is so fun and a lighthearted article to read. At first I thought that it would be the most used or looked up color or something, but I think that it is really cool that they pick it by analyzing global fashion, interior design and pop culture trends. For an architect's newspaper to be publishing this makes me think that it was something people in interior design would resonate with this year. The article talks about how Peach Fuzz evokes feelings of belonging, inspiration for recalibration, and nurturing opportunities. I am not particularly sure if a color itself can evoke these emotions for me, but I can see how they would be utilized in such settings. Nevertheless I think it was a heartwarming article, especially to read at the end of the year giving an opportunity to celebrate and reflect.
This was a really interesting article to read. I did not realize that Pantone announced a color of the year every year. This is something I had only now heard of and I’m kind of confused honestly. Personally, I don’t really like this color and I’m kind of upset that it’s the color of the year this year, I think it’s really interesting how they analyze trends and pop culture and interior design and fashion to figure out what the color will be. As someone who is interested in fashion, I do watch a lot of videos and read a lot of content regarding fashion trends and fashion cycles. I thought it was interesting that they mentioned ballet core in this article. I definitely have seen this aesthetic a lot this year and that also upsets me honestly because as someone who does ballet if you’re wearing ballet garb when you’re not going to dance class in my opinion, you just kind of look dumb. This color peach fuzz seems very 2010s and I think that makes sense because Y2K style has been really popular, so it is logical that it’s moving to the next decade.
I think that Peach Fuzz is a really cute color. Just looking at the color inspires a sort of optimism in me. It never occurred to me how thorough of a process there was to determine the Color of the Year. I figured that they just looked at what the most used colors from the previous year were and extrapolated based on that. The article briefly touches on the decision process, but there is even more detail on the Pantone Color of the Year website. I think the study of color is so interesting, especially as someone who never really grasped color theory in art classes. It is so intriguing to imagine color professionals gathering over the course of the year to forecast the trends for the next year. On top of that, it is also interesting how much impact the Color of the Year choices have. I think this is partly due to the fact that they always choose a pretty color and I think it would be interesting if Pantone one year chose a famously "ugly" color.
This was such a fun read. It reminded me when a few weeks ago I commented on how Benjamin Moore announced their color of the year as Blue Nova, quite a different feeling from peach fuzz I suppose, promoting “exploration” versus Pantone’s calm and relaxing feel. It is a pretty color, though I wouldn’t say I was awestruck by it. I think its kinda funny how companies will announce a color of the year, possibly hoping to promote new products within that color. I wonder if there is any color theory in Pantone’s choice, and how they decided to pick it. Maybe because of how it “inspires recalibration” and we’re going into the new year in a month. Its also interesting how they announced their 2024 color so early in December, however maybe they are hoping that by announcing it early people will be on top of using that color when possibly redecorating for the new year?
