The original gossip girl TV series was one that really got me interested in fashion. It allowed me to see what the most fashionable designers were and how people who could afford it would wear it in their every day lives. It pulled back the curtain that has been drawn over the wealthiest in our nation for centuries. With this new series of gossip girl being set in my generation I find it strange some of the designers approaches. I love that she was able to make it a more sustainable show by sourcing vintage pieces and not trying to buy brand new things. I was also impressed with the designers desire to work with A more diverse range of designers supporting especially smaller local designers based in New York. That allows us designers to have screen time and make some of the work shown which is really great. I do love this new year take on gossip girl but I will say I have been almost offended at some of the misrepresentations of Gen Z but nonetheless it is striving for our industry specifically centered in costumes become more sustainable. One question I have that’s lingering is what are they doing with the costumes after the show are they just gonna be auctioned off or are they going to be reused for other films
