Personally, I’m really excited for area 15. I’m from Florida and I have kind of grown up around theme parks. This is something that when I heard about I got really excited because it reminded me of my childhood. I also really like the idea of having the horror experience there. Halloween Horror Nights is such a successful thing in Florida that I think it’ll be a really successful thing in Las Vegas. I also think it’s important to have immersive entertainment, especially in touristy places because it gives people exposure to different types of entertainment. I also think it’s interesting that it’s not only gonna be that whore experience. The fact that they’re covering 85,000 ft.² with different experiences is really cool. Like I said before I feel like this will be very successful and a chance for more jobs to open up for people who want to work in the theme park industry.

Although I’ve never been to Las Vegas before, what is presented in this article seems really intriguing. I have not been the biggest fan of immersive entertainment most of the time because a lot of the time what claims to be “immersive entertainment” turns out to be just a dark room with projections and some lights. So far, it seems like Area15 will be combining rides, retails, restaurants, and other entertainment into one place. Outside of being really large, there will also be a mixture of indoor and outdoor experiences, which no doubt opens possibilities for dealing with different weathers. I also looked up some reviews on Google very briefly, and so far customer satisfaction appears to be quite high, which tells us that this is something the customers enjoy. Though I do wonder if they faced any challenges with managing such a big space, especially with safety and people flow.

The idea of immersive entertainment on this scale is something that sounds like a technical dream, and sounds like it’d be a blast to visit. I’d love to know how much time it takes to plan and execute a space like this, especially at the size of 20 acres. Their partnership with Universal is interesting as well - I’ve seen videos from Halloween Horror Nights and that in itself is a huge technical undertaking, so I’m excited to see what they have created and will create in partnership with each other. There are so many different experiences offered (just from looking at their website) - from VR to AR to physical and everything in between, I’m sure there are thousands of moving parts on and offline to keep this attraction moving. From food to entertainment to so much more, this attraction seems to offer everything, and I’m interested to see how it’ll be developed in the future, along with Universal’s Halloween offerings.

I would be lying if I said I was not extremely excited to hear about an expansion to an immersive theatre experience. I love immersive theatre, because it allows for creative artists to flesh out and maintain a world with clever details that go all the way to the way food labels are titled, because all of those specific details have the chance of being perceived by the audience. That kind of experience is something that I would love to be apart of one day; it is such a unique way to get an audience to engage with content, and immersive experiences such as the Omega Mart are extremely well-received by the general public. I think that overall expansion of this experience would be a positive turn for the experience, and would provide more unique experiences to guests. There is a serious lack of immersive theatre in recent years due to the pandemic, which is a sad reality of theatre in general, and I think that it is greatly important to allow for more unique experiences such as this one to continue to be developed by passionate designers around the world.

Area 15 is right up my alley; how have I never heard of it before? Be right back on my way to change my spring break plans! Although I have never been to Las Vegas, I admire that they are a place that embraces having fun and enjoying yourself, maybe even too much sometimes. As an artist, I want to make more everyday spaces joyful. Unfortunately, I think that we live in a world that fosters depression to an unhealthy extreme. I want to create mini versions of Area 15 sprinkled throughout the country, and I want to do whatever I can to make them affordable. However, from working in theatre, I already recognize that there is a high cost related to everything in the entertainment field. I hope that there are ways to mitigate this so that we can incorporate more color and childlike adventure into life in adulthood.
