The story of the Chicago Opera Theater shows the power of innovation and perseverance in opera and entertainment. After facing many financial and artistic challenges over the years, the Chicago Opera Theater continues to push boundaries and offer exciting new work to its audiences by broadening the appeal of opera and bringing fresh perspectives to the art form through diverse works. The Chicago Opera Theater was able to adapt and innovate during Covid and the company has found new ways to connect with audiences and offer online performances. However, the story of the Chicago Opera Theater also highlights the need for greater support for the arts in our society. This is not a new idea but especially following Covid the performing arts are struggling and they need resources to succeed. Even outside of the pandemic performing arts organizations like the Chicago Opera Theater struggle to get funding and resources, even though they make significant cultural and economic contributions to their communities.
