Despite having no prior experience in video editing, let alone VFX, I still found this article to be very intriguing. One feeling that I got from reading this was that we are approaching a stage where machines are slowly becoming the artists too. The incorporation of machine learning aims to ease the workload for creators and make the process more efficient and time-consuming, which is undeniably extremely helpful. However, I do wonder at what point does the boundary blur? When will the machine start doing most of the work for us? And that point, who’s really the creator and owner of the content? It brings me back to an article about copyrights for A.I. generated artworks that I read earlier in the semester. The debate will only escalate as computer technology advances. On the other hand, I also think that with development in both hardware (such as Apple’s M1 chip) and software, content creators are having fewer restrictions in their process of creation.
