I love the blend of traditional stories and culture with modern, innovative technology. This experience is an immersive one, done through projection mapping, lasers, lighting, and a surround sound system. Through this, the story of Lakshmi Bai, who was 22 years old when she died fighting the British East India Company during the Indian Mutiny of 1857–1858. In addition to this, the fact that it is being projected on the hilltop Jhansi Fort adds more to the whole experience, as that fort specifically was originally built in the 17th century and saw heavy fighting during the rebellion. I looked up images of this experience and the way the projection interacted with the architecture of the fort was something special. Again, I think there is so much value in portraying an old story or folktale in a way that pushes what technology can do. It is this blend of culture and technology that will be important going forward, should it be done in a non-reductive sense.
