Broadway's Mask and Vaccination Policy Continues Through April
www.broadwayworld.com: The Broadway League announced today that the owners and operators of all 41 Broadway theatres in New York City will continue to uphold current mask and vaccine requirements through April 30, 2022. These protocols remain in place to ensure the well-being and safety of the audience, cast, and crew, who all make it possible for Broadway to remain open.

To be honest I have not been updating myself on Broadway's return for a while now. I have seen updates here and there on where masks stand, so I took this article as an opportunity to become more aware of the state of Broadway currently. I have always been interested in what will happen to the industry as a result of Covid. To be honest, I have no idea what will happen. I can see a world where some shows come back successful, but not all, which will eventually lead to more returning and Broadway surviving. I can also see a world where the industry has to pause for longer than expected. It all depends on how much longer the virus lasts, in my opinion. As the time increases, people's interest in the already someone dying art form seems to be dwindling. The possibility of Broadway not existing is something I have thought about for a while, as it is one of my career goals. What will I work towards? Honestly, it has helped me better understand what I want to do as an artist, and where my values lie.
Broadway need to keep its mask mandates if it wants to ensure its future. This is not only the safest stance for its employees and audiences, but also the safest option for their finances. It has been proven time and time again that masks are effective for the pandemic. Broadway has been royally screwed over by the pandemic, and the faster this thing ends, the better the chance for Broadway to revive. I always think like back in 2016, before Hamilton, there was so much talk about how Broadway was dying. And then that Lin Manuel Miranda miracle happened and things looked up again. I wonder if Broadway is looking for another miracle like that. Because every show since then has been something similar to Hamilton. Modern, less classical, more “hip” and more “diverse”. Anyways, lifting the mandate in the most packed city in America is stupid. At least Broadway knows whats good for them.
