I am an avid Oscars watcher. This is my Superbowl. It made me so incredibly angry how they decided to just chop some categories in preference of “cutting time” but honestly it made absolutely no sense. I know this sounds like a very naïve sounding solution to the problem, but if they had cut the commercial time by half they would have fitted in those awards just fine and kept the run time of about two and a half-ish hours intact. Not even the call time for the audience watching the ceremony was changed. The audience was invited to come in, but then they would have had to miss out on the red carpet coverage. Also, if there were red-carpet people already, and they were periodically releasing the winners from those categories anyway to social media, why not just televise it earlier? I feel like there were so many other solutions than just throwing everyone under the bus for this one.
