I love these kind of interviews! It is so insightful to hear artists talk about their creative process. She said that she will read through a script and start thinking about the desires and dreams of the characters and then she collaborated with the director and their vision. That’s one of the most exciting parts of being a designer for me is making a directors vision a reality that exceeds everyone’s expectations. It was also very interesting how much research she did for each character. She evaluates every aspect of their environment and upbringing. She even travels to the town before hand to obverse the people living there so she can have a better understanding of the clothes to put her characters in. And when she described how she works with and loves the actors it made me kind of want to be a costume designer to have those interactions with the actors.
