I absolutely love these interviews with costume designers. Seeing those pictures of the black panther suit close up was awesome. I didn’t realize how intricate the design was. I’ve been a huge fan of black panther ever since the old avengers cartoons. I love how she took the original black suit design but added so many tribal print in it. She very much deserved the Oscar. One of my favorite parts of the movie was the costumes and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with in Black Panther two. There were two things that she said that stuck out to me: first, each costume felt like a child because she put so much love, time, care and effort went into it. You don’t get where she is by being apathetic, your heart needs to be in your creations. My second favorite thing was this quote describing the design process: “You go into it with a purpose, and the purpose is to tell the truth of the character, the truth of the story, the truth of the scene.” Truth!
