I personally loved it! It took itself exactly seriously enough. I told my partner while watching, "This feels like a playground piece at CMU." I also think that this plus Hamilton being filmed well and released during lockdown could do a lot to bridge the growing gap between younger generations and fine arts.

This is an interesting time in this history of theatre. I am grateful to Ratatouille for giving us a taste of returning to normal. At the same time, I wish I myself could write a raving review. I think the musical would have been better suited to take more time and perfect the production before sharing it. The music was very wonderful. I think a lot of strong choices were made, and that they did their best in a very short period of time given the circumstances of the pandemic. I do think that some of the choices could have been a bit more consistent, such as the cosmetic choices. I also found the tile background for the kitchen scenes to be distracting from the work of the performers. I love the work done on tiktok as well by the creators and contributors, and the music was wonderful. I think Andrew Barth Feldman did a wonderful job of capturing the original pixar character, and everyone in the cast put their passion into the roles. I think decisions regarding the use of airpods could have been stronger. I am also pretty sure there was a part that hinted at the Cats cast album. It is also hard to see the “pit” getting to be together, and doing an amazing job, when the cast could not have done the same. I think with proper testing, distancing, and quarantining, it could have been pulled off with excellence. I do think they did their best given the pandemic and time frame. Overall, everyone really did a great job, but I do think it could have been a bit more cohesive given the amount of time a production deserved before being released. I am just happy with the money raised for The Actor’s Fund. I also would love to see the music incorporated in the new Disney Attraction, but I am certain that even though the creator visited, that is unlikely. It is now hard to separate the original from these catchy songs.
