Let's all meet up in the year 3000! Inside the immersive Doctor Who: Time Fracture

Stage | The Guardian: ‘This entire year for live arts has been a real one step forward, two steps back process,” says Daniel Dingsdale. He’s been one of the lucky ones, working on a huge production that has survived the coronavirus upheaval and is set to open in spring. Dingsdale is the writer of Doctor Who: Time Fracture, an ambitious immersive theatre show officially licensed by the BBC and developed by Immersive Everywhere. It promises to take audiences across time and space on a mission to save the universe – all within the confines of Covid safety restrictions.

This article is definitely making me regret that I am a season behind on Doctor Who. I am a huge fan of immersive entertainment; it is one of my favorite aspects of theme parks. I love the idea of an immersive theatre show, especially one surrounding such a detailed universe. In the show, you never know where something is going to go, other than it will probably involve the planet being at risk at some point. A performance could have such potential using that vein of unpredictability. I like the use of the word experience and the video is so engaging. The language itself is incredibly immersive, Daniel Dingsdale did a wonderful job. I love the moment with the converse shoe. It is funny that it is so scientific and still full of normal Doctor Who humor. The graphics seem to bring the real life and video game graphics into a happy medium. The sketches and video of this time fracture are really interesting, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.
