How VR is Challenging Content Consumption & Creation

VRFocus: Virtual reality (VR) is a new medium which allows an array of creative talent to challenge the way we experience art. Whether it’s something as simple as an IMAX-style experience at home, or completely changing your viewpoint so that you’re a part of the film itself, moving between characters and breaking free of the frame.

Virtual Reality allows for a world, or worlds, like no other. Entertainment today is being constantly faced with the challenge of audiences wanting more and more new and innovative ideas. Virtual Reality is a challenge but an excellent way to bring new possibilities into individual’s homes. While not accessible to everyone, the variety of VR technology does allow moderately diverse groups to tap into VR consumption. From the expensive Oculus to the more accessible Google Cardboard or VR Arcades, almost anyone with a smartphone can experience VR. I did not know about VR’s expansive presence in film festivals prior to reading this article. I have seen it used a lot at trade shows and branded Google Cardboard equivalents being given out as swag. Many different industries, such as fashion, are incorporating VR in ways that best suit their industry. As VR is virtual after all, it also is an excellent resource in bringing content into people’s homes in our current situation.
