Commentary: In the arts, the role we all play is important. What's your role?

The San Diego Union-Tribune: The majority of my work as a theater artist and arts administrator highlights the stories of marginalized people. To communities of color, the arts exist as a reminder and affirmation of our beauty, strength and presence. Some of the readers of this piece tuned out when I used the word “marginalized” a few sentences ago. They’re currently putting together an argument that there are no marginalized people in the 21st century.
