Though I had not watched Ratatouille: The Tik Tok Musical, I have heard a lot of buzz about it. According to my friends who are on the app, they informed me that most of the ticket sales were donation based, with $1 being the minimum. So after reading from this article that it had 350,000 viewers but raised 2 million dollars in revenue, I was surprised but also delighted. This means that most viewers had paid a lot more than the minimum price. Also, during this time where the pandemic cases in the United States are worse than ever, I am astonished and excited to see how the musical theatre community is trying new innovative ways to keep engaged audiences and fans. Not only this, Tik Tok as an app has blown up during the pandemic to distract many people of all ages with the more time they have. To see how people have created a platform that has such a rich community shows a lot for human kind. It is exciting to see what other innovative ways people will stay social with each other in a socially distant world.
