Workhorse Collaborative wants to promote your arts organization or nonprofit

Features | Pittsburgh | Pittsburgh City Paper: Compared to many groups, arts nonprofits and organizations face more difficulties finding the time and money to dedicate to marketing and communications. Emily Willson and Jackie Baker, the co-founders of Workhorse Collaborative, a local boutique consulting firm specializing in arts marketing and organizational strategy for the arts, are more than aware of these challenges.

This is a fantastic collaborative to read about. Consulting and collectives are the way into the future especially with HR, Marketing, Communication, and other administrative positions that should always exist in Non-Profits. Pooling resources in this way is a great way to make sure that qualified professionals are doing a job that volunteers should not be (in my opinion). It also makes the financial burden less on one individual non-profit. This also allows for many more people to be collaborating on a solution. Something fantastic to hear is Emily Willson talks about making sure the individual companies chose how much power they are giving over to the Workhorse Collaborative. This will get buy-in from people in an organization who might be wary of changing how marketing is done. Willson also makes the important point that arts advertising can be different from business marketing (as there are different goals) and advocates for her own position. It is great to see two arts administrators work together to serve their community.
