It is fantastic to see that a not for profit comedy theatre is as successful as Arcade Comedy Theatre because it concretely shows the success and strength of the Pittsburgh Arts Scene. It is also nice to see that the theatre offers classes to help educate interested community members. I was intrigued when Aaron Kleiber said that being can be learned and how the news anchors learned to be funny on air. I go through the same phenomenon when people say “oh I can’t draw” or “oh you go to theatre school and your grades must be subjective. Just like I learned earlier this year, anyone can learn to draw if they put enough effort and energy into it and our grades aren’t subjective. There are correct ways to do things and wrong ways to do things. There is technique, which is used correctly leads to aesthetically pleasing or “good” art. I think Kleiber was hinting at this with the comment that the news anchors can be funny and I wish that this idea was more prevalent. People learn to be good at math. Why don’t they see that they can take this drive to improve at math to learn artistically?
