I have really enjoyed watching "Face Off" since I discovered it last year, even though I am less interested in monster make up then in animatronics. This new show, "Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge" seems to be the perfect fit for my interests and I can't wait to watch it. So far it seems as though information on the show is fairly minimal, but hopefully more will be coming down the pipe soon. My one complaint would lie with the title, "Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge" is quite wordy, and not nearly as exciting sounding as "Face Off".

Awesome! I would love to see people building creatures and the processes they go through. I've also watched a bit of FaceOff, which I really enjoyed except for all the inter-personal drama. I know that's all a part of the competition/reality aspect of the show, but as a maker I always wish that they would show more of the process and let the artists comment more on their thought processes and ideas going into all the challenges as well as reflection afterwards. I look forward to this show giving some insight into the world of creature creation and producing some fabulous creatures!

I am a huge fan of Face Off, and I cannot wait for this new show to air. I am very curious to see the difference between two shows. I know on Face Off, there is make-up and then there is fabrication. Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge sounds similar but on a larger scale. Does this show use more on automations and Face Off uses more on human models? I checked out Jim Henson's website, and it looks like the company makes CGI creatures. I am interested to know what the challenges on the show will be. Will they have to create physical creatures, like the animatronics used in Jurassic Park, or will they only create CGI creatures? I don't know much about this subject, but then again, I did not know much about make-up design. After watching Face Off, I learned so much about the profession, and I'm sure the same will happen after I watch this show.

I am so exciting for this!!! I loved Face Off and I think this is a great evolution of this type of series. One of my favorite aspects of this show is the different types of challenges they create for them to create their product. In Face Off, there was a challenge that had them combine a profession with a Tim Burton-esque style. It is amazing to see the products that come out of it. I am excited to see the things that come out of this type of show!

I think this is a great idea! It seems similar to the other syfy shows, face off, and hot set but unique also. This is a great way for previously unrecognized artists whos life work is creating these things be seen on national television. Even though I work in entertainment, I have never first hand expierenced this kind of creation and artistry, so i would be very interested to see their process for how they approach the given problem. As with my viewing of hot set, i would be interested to see if there is anything that i can take away from the way the think or the way they fabricate, that i could use in my own work.

I'm really excited for this. I've seen a few episodes of Face Off, and would love to see it with puppets. I've always had great respect and interest in the people that create the puppets, and especially the Jim Henson Workshop. I'll be interested in seeing what they actually show during the show in the creation and implementation of these creations, often these shows don't really show the nuts and bolts of it and so while it looks cool you don't really learn a lot from it. My only issue with this idea is that in my mind making puppets is a collaborative industry and so only having one person and one mind on a project might be limiting. Most of the puppeteers I've worked with embrace and encourage large collaborative working environments. So while one person can come up with great ideas, a collaborative group can come up with even more. Also who will be using these puppets? The person using the puppet is equally as important as the creator.

OMG!!!! Yes!!! I now have yet another how to become addicted to! I love that there are more show now that are about given artists a chance. Its jut wonderful! And thee hows are super useful. I watch "Faceoff" religiously and have learned countless things from the show its self, as well as been inspired by it. The idea of creature design is even ore fascinating. The idea that its purely free form and not human based (like faceoff) will add an extra creative element to the show! Im super excited to see what challenges are given and the creative skills of the artists involved. If it involved CGI I think the show could go to some bad extremes but maybe they will change my mind. Just puppet making how ever is also kinda lame so i guess some aspect of CGI would need to be included. i dont know al I do know is im super excited!

I am so ready for this show and I hope it succeeds. I already watch every episode of face off and this looks like it will be in a similar style. Shows like face off are great because not only are the final products cool but the process is fascinating and is a great way to learn new methods of creating and constructing. Face off has been very useful even though I have no interaction with makeup so i think that a show on something a little more mechanical like puppet building will have even more useful techniques to learn.
