Yuval Sharon's the Industry makes own track with 'Invisible Cities'

latimes.com: Inside Union Station, a robotic voice is barking out destinations for Amtrak's northbound Train 785, departing from track No. 9. "Glendale, Burbank Airport, Van Nuys … Carpinteria, Santa Barbara and Goleta! All aboard!" Yuval Sharon smiles, pauses mid-sentence and brings the racing locomotive of his thoughts to a screeching halt. Twilight is settling over the downtown L.A. train terminal, where, on Saturday, Sharon and his 3-year-old opera company, the Industry, will stage the world premiere of "Invisible Cities," Christopher Cerrone's "headphone opera" based on Italo Calvino's memory-circumnavigating novel.

This sounds like a really interesting concept. I'm not one that usually goes for the new modern plays that are abstract, but an opera version sounds really cool. Maybe it is just because I am a music junkie, but musicals are always better.
It is almost like a flash mob, but like an opera flash mob. It's so super cool! "Invisible Cities" is based on a book too, which makes it even crazier that it is happening in such a flash mob such of a way.
As much as I have been praising this, I do hope that theatre does not leave the stage to go to such big extents. Theatre should be on the stage to keep that 4th wall intact. There is a classiness about it that shouldn't be lost.
