New Off Broadway Theaters Planned for West Midtown
NYTimes.com: Two New York theater veterans have signed a 10-year lease to open an Off Broadway performance center early next year that would provide more options for producers and artists creating small-scale work.
Hugh Hysell, a Broadway marketing executive and producer, and Catherine Russell, an actress (“Perfect Crime”) and theatrical general manager who helped develop the Snapple Theater Center and other Off Broadway spaces, said on Monday that the new center, at 601 Eighth Avenue, near 39th Street, will include three theaters with different capacities — 99 seats, 199 seats and 249 seats.
