I wondered what this play was about when I first saw the title. And it’s straightforward with its content about a young programmer’s story set in the Silicon Valley. As a BXA in computer science, I am curious about how a highly tech-focused character is portrayed on stage, since programmers spend most of their time in front of a computer/machine, trying to solve problems on a small screen. I see a review mentioning the humor added to the piece, which might help a tech person be more down-to-earth and relatable to the audience. I didn’t realize the thumb icon was adjacent to the reviews. The reviews should indicate an opinion right away, but some I must get clues from the thumb icon. I also find it interesting that the reviews came from three organizations of professional reviewers: New York Stage Review, New York Theater, and New York Theater Guide. I sort of wanted more reviews from the public to see the acceptability of this new attempt of main character choice and story.
This is a very interesting concept for a play especially during the times that we are living in today. I think that addressing the AI use in a creative and artistic form rather than thinking about it logically is a great way to look at how AI is becoming so centralized in today’s society. I wonder if this show opens a door to from the digital world to the natural world and how people are having to chose or balance between the two. I also hope it explores the idea of AI and the arts simply because it is such an integral conflict of today’s world. I wish the review had a bit more of what the contents of the show are. Shows like these reminds me how important it is to not overlook off-broadway shows. Most of these shows are new works and are interlinked to what to happening in the world around us.
