Hollywood Assistants Finally Get the Spotlight at Inaugural AvA Awards

www.hollywoodreporter.com: Assistants vs. Agents, the popular Instagram account that highlights the struggles of being a Hollywood assistant, hosted its inaugural awards show in L.A., in what appears to be the first honors ever recognizing the young people who keep studios, agencies and sets on track and on time.

I love what they said at the end of the article about giving recognition to the people who do the work behind the scenes. In my high school theater department the actors were the only ones who would bow on stage after the show. I know in the professional world crew members don't come on stage to bow but it was just kind of disheartening to me to feel like the crew weren't getting the recognition for the hard work that put the show on. Especially the head production people and the head designers, the head stage management folks and of course in the real world there's the Tony Awards and stuff to get recognition to designers and production people for the work they do. But I think it's also really good to be valuing the work that like stage management and assistants do that is even more behind the scenes than design work, even more behind the scenes than crew work. And it's great to put the spotlight on them for really keeping the whole show running.
