Amelia Aguilar on finding acceptance and honesty in ‘Octet’ at Studio

DC Theater Arts: Sometimes, you stumble upon the right narrative at the right time in your life. For me, that was listening to the Dave Malloy musical Octet in 2020. Malloy creates sonically ambitious, dramaturgically dense shows. His most well-known is Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 — an adaptation of a small section of War and Peace described as an “electropop opera,” whose Broadway production received 12 Tony nominations in 2017.
