Which Torque Wrench Type Is The Most Accurate? It's Complicated

www.slashgear.com: From my experience teaching mechanics to properly torque fasteners in the aerospace industry, the potential accuracy of any torque wrench type is often defeated by user error. However, some torque wrench types allow users to achieve more accurate results thanks to their design features.

Torque wrenches are a pivotal tool in any machining shop as they guarantee that bolts are secured but not over threaded. This article perfectly defines what each type of torque wrench allows and why they might not ensure the perfect outcome. The author of the article mentions that they work in the aerospace industry where fasteners need to be installed properly to ensure that nothing breaks or fails at an unfortunate time. Working on a smaller level such as the theatrical industry means we have to maintain proper torque to ensure the safety of all those working and using the scenic pieces, but the margin for error is greatly reduced as we are not sending the pieces we make to space. One aspect of the article that I believe is one of the most important parts in guaranteeing an accurate reading is maintaining the calibration of the torque wrench as tool maintenance can be easily forgotten.
