Best Miter Saw for Woodworking, Contractors, and DIYers in 2025

www.protoolreviews.com: As one of the core woodworking and carpentry tools, our crew and I have had the privilege of testing dozens of the best miter saw models over more than 15 years. A lot has changed in that time, mostly for the better. If you’re looking to buy, let my experience do the hard work of filtering out what rises above the rest and is worth your consideration.

Now, I was having a nice day. Figured I would scroll through the mitre saw review list. See what's what. I love a good mitre saw, who doesn't? (Quite a few people actually but they don't count). Figured I would comment on an article about a topic that really interests me, wood cutting devices. While scrolling, I agreed with most of the choices and reasonings that the author made. I squinted my eyes a bit at the Festool "best saw for woodworking", as it seemed to me to be very pricey, and at the same time could only cut up to 4x12 while most of the other full mitre saws were able to get 4x14, but it's a high precision machine, whatever. I also of course rolled my eyes at the appearance of a DeWalt mitre saw, as I hate DeWalt. I was however unsurprised to find it in the place of "best budget tool". Despite the fact that it does not deserve even that in my opinion. My jaw was utterly dropped, however, upon the discovery of the final review: "Best metal cutting mitre saw". Now, I am not a person who separates my chop saws from my mitre saws based on material. I believe what makes a mitre saw is the ability to make a mitre cut. After all, it's in the name. Despite this, in the review the author even states that the tool was "Technically a chop saw rather than a miter saw". It would be a lie to state anything other than that upon reading this my heart broke. I aghast, angry, and ashamed. How could Pro Tool Reviews do this to me? How could the review site that I could always trust to provide totally unbiased and definitely not be swayed by monetary donations from popular tool companies betray the sanctity of the mitre saw. While I will still read the Pro Tool Reviews articles, it will take a long time for my absolute trust to be rebuilt from the ashes of the fire it wrought upon me.
