The Lies Employers Tell You During Job Interviews

lifehacker.com: Job hunting has never been easy, but in recent years, the process has become a dystopian nightmare. Gearing up to look for a new position requires the sort of planning once relegated to military campaigns, and the sheer number of video interviews, live projects, and other work required of you before you get an offer is exhausting, and offers plenty of ways to screw up and ruin your chances.

This article is definitely a good reminder before going into job interviews or even applications. One of the most common lies that employers tell during job interviews is the promise of career advancement or growth opportunities. While this may be true in some cases, it is not always the case. Employers often use this promise to attract top talent, but the reality is that many companies do not have a structured career growth plan in place. Another lie that employers often use is the promise of work-life balance. Many companies claim to offer flexible work hours, telecommuting options, and generous vacation policies. However, the reality is that many companies expect employees to work long hours and be available around the clock. The article also highlights the importance of job seekers doing their own research on the company before accepting a job offer. While these may not directly apply to traditional theatre jobs, I think they are still potential traps to look out for when looking for job opportunities.
