How Broadway Got 'Shucked': The 12-Year Journey of a Riotous Musical

Variety: The verdicts on the new Broadway musical-comedy “Shucked” are in, and the critics have asked you to lend them your ears — so to speak — as they’ve cobbled together their reactions to the possible sleeper hit. (Sorry, but once you’ve seen the production, it may take you six months or longer to stop speaking in puns.) Variety’s critic wrote that “with its exuberance, heart and non-stop yucks, ‘Shucked’ is the surprise delight of the Broadway season.”

I am very interested in seeing how shucked does on Broadway. I think marketing has a big impact on how well a new show does on Broadway. I find the marketing for shucked to be quite interesting. they seemed to only talk about the fact that there is corn in the show so no one really knew all that much about what the show was actually about which causes a sense of mystery and intrigue in the audience so that they are more inclined to go see a show they have no idea what it is about.I think that this will most likely positively affect shucked at least in the beginning of its run. but I am very interested in seeing how it does after a few months if it makes it that long. Another thing I find interesting about this show is that they have been working on it for a decade or more And that there have been multiple iterations of the show during that time period. I would love to see a comparison of the different iterations. I find that stuff really cool to look at. the different changes that were made and how this story evolved to the story that is now on Broadway intrigues me.

I personally am very excited to see Shucked on Broadway. It has been a show I wanted to see because of the humor and fun it has brought audiences. One thing that they talked about in the article is they talked about the humor in the show. That’s the main reason that I wanna see it because like said in the article, it’s kind of just about having fun and listening to the jokes and laughing a lot. One thing I didn’t know in this article that I learned was that Jason Owens is a part of this process and the reason I knew him before was because of Kacey Musgraves since he’s her artistic manager. The other thing they talked about in this article is it being a new show. They talked about how since shows like Moulin Rouge and Life of Pi are adapted, audiences might enjoy a show they know nothing about. An audience member can go in with fresh eyes and just have fun.
