Broadway’s ‘Parade’ co-star Micaela Diamond says she celebrates her Jewish roots nightly on stage

www.timeout.com: Two truths become apparent upon catching Parade on Broadway. The first: grandiose theater spectacles filled with outstanding music and top-notch acting no longer define the form—but they should. The second: antisemitism still has a grip on our culture. Unfortunately, the hostility has yet to be eradicated.

One of the most disturbing things that I have witnessed in relation to these anti-Jew “Protests” is the fact that so few people in the industry actually care at all about antisemitism. The only people I ever saw talking about the “protests” were other Jews. And that isn’t rare at all. At this very school I have been told that antisemitism “ isn’t really an issue because Jews are rich and control the industry” and that I am “distracting from other more important problems in the industry and the world” by talking about antisemitism in the first place. When I tell people that I am getting legitimately scared by the way things are going not just in America but worldwide, I get talked down to by the same people who talk about how important it is to listen to minorities. I don’t mean to be divisive, I am just so angry.
