I think getting into sewing is such an interesting process. At first, it’s super difficult to start out and get a feel for it, but as you work on it more and more and just sit and fiddle with the needle and thread, it starts to make so much more sense. I remember being 13 and finally getting my first pair of pointe shoes, not realizing I had to sew the ribbons on myself. My grandma offered to help, but I told her no because I felt it was important to figure it all out on my own. I sat there for probably four hours trying to figure out how to get two ribbons on each shoe. Although I was really frustrated and poked myself with the needle so many times, I’m really glad I spent that time figuring it out when I did. I think sewing is a really important skill to have and everyone should spend time figuring it out at some point.
I adore seeing articles like these that aid individuals who are beginners in exploring the art form of sewing. It is so incredibly important to generate good sources for aspiring sewers to go to when trying to find where to start in the sewing process! Though sewing is an exciting and exceptionally fun hobby or career to engage in. It is very costly, time consuming and requires a substantial amount of patience within the learning process. This article does a great way with laying out the steps to a evolving costumer. From the essential sewing supplies they will need to possess, budgeting one's time and money, and selecting fabrics. This article really encompasses and goes above and beyond the essential starting kit for becoming a costumer. I love seeing people take time out of their lives to educate others and bring about their own personal knowledge of their selected art form!
I remember when I was just starting out sewing, I was eight years old and my grandmother had given me my first sewing machine. She taught me the absolute basics of sewing based on what she had learned when she was younger, and from there I filled the rest in. Over the years I have been able to sew just okay enough to get by, filling in the gaps of knowledge via Youtube and just guessing. Reading this guide was interesting considering my knowledge of sewing skipped all of the listed steps and I just dove right in, which was probably not the wisest thing to do. It's awesome that this resource is available to beginner sewers and gives a great baseline to get started. The materials list and set of steps give the reader a good idea of what it takes to get into sewing and costuming.
