League of Professional Theatre Women Announces Dates for Lucille Lortel Awards, Theatre Women Awards, More
Playbill: The League of Professional Theatre Women's 40th anniversary season will include a birthday event September 20 at TheaterLab featuring industry professionals including Irene Gandy, Emily Mann, Charlotte Moore, Estelle Parsons, Tonya Pinkins, Theresa Rebeck, Daryl Roth, Susan Stroman, Linda Winer, and more.

To be honest, I have never heard of the League of Professional Theatre Women or their awards ceremony. This short article doesn’t tell me too much about who they are, but it does sound interesting, nonetheless. I’m not sure if it’s geared more towards the performance side of theatre or the technical, but the link at the bottom does give me a bit more insight on the organization. So it seems like this Playbill article specifically is just about conveying the logistics of the event, which I believe is a bit unfortunate. While I clicked on the link to find out more, it would’ve been cool to learn a bit more about the history of this organization or what the awards specifically celebrate (as opposed to other major award shows). One thing I did find exciting is the partnership with the New York Public Library, especially because I’ve heard of how wonderful their performing arts archive section is.
