Idris Elba Calls the Debate Between Black British Actors Taking American Roles An 'Unintelligent Argument'

I agree with Elba on this debate. I do not believe someone's nationality/ethnicity should automatically dismiss them from being able to audition and participate in roles for their race. Many black individuals see ourselves and are represented through actors who do not possess the same specific ethnic identity as us. Their are so many talented black individuals across the globe who bring forth an abundance of talent and contrasting perspectives to the performance world. Many of the shows and music in which we watch/listen to on a daily basis are of Black British, African, and Canadian decent. artist. Therefore, to try and exclude them from American produce shows is not beneficial to the black community and to the growth of the entertainment industry. Whether a person is a Black British actor or a Black American actor we all share a common identity, history and go through similar experiences on a daily basis. Therefore, we should come together as a community and embrace those of a different ethnicity rather than exclude them.
