Travels of a Scenic Artist and Scholar. The Tabor Opera House in Leadville, Colorado. Wednesday, February 5, 2020.
Drypigment.net: On my third day in Leadville, Colorado, I decided to walk to the Taber Opera House. My lodging is less than a block away. It felt a little brisk out, but I thought nothing of it as the sun was shining and I enjoyed the stroll. At the time, I did not realize it was 20 degrees below zero. Arriving a bit early, I had a chance to enjoy coffee and wait for the crew.

This is one of my favorite aspects of this career path: the traveling. When I think about my future, my heart beats the fastest when I think about all of the incredible parts of the world where I have the possibility to work. Even this small town in Colorado has theatrical gems to offer, and it was so intriguing getting to look at these photographs. Theatre has evolved so much, and these drops from before 1900 are so telling of the history of this craft. I would love to stand in her shoes and explore the ways in which performance art has been created all over the world. I also think that the information she gleaned from these trips will bleed into her work in other parts of the world, and I hope that there are more installments to this “Travels of a Scenic Artist” style of article. This is why this profession is so cool!!
