Ok, before discussing the article, that photo is terrifying and looks like something out of a sci-fi film where the humans are all enslaved. As for the article, it was interesting because I wasn’t aware that Cannes even offered a VR experience to its visitors, but I guess that makes sense since it is a Venice film festival for the professionals. It’s cool to hear that the technology is further being explored, but I can’t help but feel like it’s almost pretentious. It’s getting an expansion, yet only the wealthy attendees will be able to experience it. Perhaps this expansion will allow for the technology to spread outside the festival, but for me personally, VR appears more to be a luxury than a commodity for the public to enjoy. But I guess that’s what the future is working towards so who knows. I can’t quite shake that image that VR may enslave us all, so maybe it’s better to wait.
