I had never heard of the Knights of Illumination, but as someone interested in lighting design, this article caught my eye. Like I mentioned, I don’t know much about the awards discussed in this article, but it is really cool to hear about the new/rebranded award titles. I am interested in going into concert and festival work so seeing an opportunity to go into this and be recognized for doing something I love is fantastic to see as a young freshman. One thing that is slightly unrelated to the article itself, but while I was reading it, there were ads on the side and one of them happened to be for the RoboSpot which we are currently using for Into The Woods so I just think it is really cool I am getting ads for equipment that I get to see be used. Back to the article, I really like how the awards are being as inclusive as they possibly can by including media and scenic elements play into the award categories. Media, lighting, and scenic design all work as one cohesive unit at times so it is really cool to see awards possible for all of them individually.
