A Good Start for 2020
NEA: The National Endowment for the Arts has been very busy in the first month of the new decade. We have announced our first round of fiscal year 2020 grants of 1,187 grants totaling $27.3 million, including grants for projects honoring the Women’s Suffrage Centennial in 2020. For example, the Chautauqua Institution in New York State will theme its weeklong summer opera festival around the suffrage movement and women’s equality—a fitting location given that Susan B. Anthony often advocated for women’s rights from the stage of the Chautauqua Institution.
