This is a really interesting concept of setting standards up for public review and something that I was not aware existed in the entertainment industry. In my mind these standards are set by a board of professionals in the industry and then are just given to the public as a golden rule, so this idea of interaction with the public I think could be highly effective for enhancing the quality and range of the standard. It is certainly a way to get more insights on the standard and hopefully more intelligent and experienced opinions to review it before it is published officially. Of course I have more questions of the exact process. Who is responsible for cycling through and evaluating the merit of the responses, how effective is a simple public posting to get those who are most knowledgeable on the subject to respond and it is actually worth the time I’m sure it takes to go through all the responses to try and improve the text. Though I’m unsure of the exact details I think the inspiration behind it holds the real possibility of being effective.
