Pittsburgh Opera’s “Hansel & Gretel” Opens to Large and Enthusiastic Audience

Pittsburgh in the Round: Before the curtain went up on Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel last night, Christopher Hahn, General Director of Pittsburgh Opera, walked to a corner of the stage and with dignified solemnity announced that the orchestra would play the famous “Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves” from Verdi’s Nabucco, followed by a moment of silence.

Hansel and Gretel is a story that has, ever since the time it was written, has resonated with people of all ages. Its story has been appreciated, its characters have been loved, and whenever justice has been done to the story in a theatrical or television setting, the audience has showered it with immense respect and love.
That is why this article does no quite surprise e for the fact that history is repeating itself in the case of Hansel and Gretel. It is being appreciated at the Pittsburgh Opera for the way the actors are portraying the characters, the setting and the scenic, sound and lighting designs etc: the show has been appreciated for each aspect that it has to offer to the audiences.
and all this is only because the production, technical and artistic team have collaborated in a way that enunciates the beauty of the production in the best way possible.
