He's Still in School and Already Making an Auspicious Dual Debut
Theatre Development Fund – TDF: "When my mom was my age, she was going through a divorce, had two kids and was working three jobs," says 29-year-old playwright Jeremy O. Harris. "So having two productions in New York while getting an MFA feels like a cakewalk because those things are very cushy."

I first heard about Jeremy over this summer while working at the Vineyard Theatre. I was tasked with reading the play and creating a props list. I usually do not like to read plays as I am someone who needs to see it live, with Daddy I did not have that issue. Jeremy is such a great playwright that I was able to create these pictures in my mind about how certain scenes might look. He brings such a great perspective to playwriting as he is young and better understands the younger generations. When I finished reading the play I started to research on the production and playwright and was surprised to find out he was still in grad school. In his final year of grad school, he will have 2 major off Broadway productions which is incredible. I am so excited to see where his career takes him and I will be sure to follow it!
