The Lion in Winter
Pittsburgh in the Round: Walking through The Little Lake Theatre Company’s stage felt warm and traditional, like going to your grandparents’ for the holidays. Torches lighted the area and gave an overall homey impression and got me in the mood for an old-fashioned Christmas play. What I saw, however, was a far cry from the usual cheery mood of a familial holiday romp.

When I clicked on this article I had absolutely no idea that this show was about royalty. I read the title and thought it sounded interesting. I think that this show has a semi original idea. There are other shows about bickering families and royalty, but I like the spots of romance and humor this show seems to have. I think that historical plays are really interesting because they reimagine people and make them more human. I've seen a couple of the Shakespeare histories and while they contain information about what happened, it allows people to relate to these historical figures and learn through this story rather than a textbook. They become three dimensional instead of just what is said about them. I would actually be interested in seeing this play because I enjoy these kinds of plays. In general though, I am not the biggest on watching plays but as I see more I am slowly warming up to them.
