Strictly FX Creates Memorable Moments during the 2013 NFL Kickoff

Lighting&Sound America Online - News: For many in the states, the year is divided into two parts: the football season, and the rest of the year. The season starts with an effects filled televised celebration called the "NFL Kickoff" that includes a concert, expert game analysis, as well as the season's first official NFL game. For this year's event, which took place in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, executive producer Ricky Kirshner of Touchdown Entertainment turned to the talents of the effects team at Strictly FX of Chicago. It's their second consecutive NFL Kickoff with Touchdown Entertainment and production designer Doug "Spike" Brant of Performance Environment Design Group. "To give the home town fans something special it was decided to have a visual spectacular tribute to the Ravens in the Harbor. Special effects were a key element of this," notes Brant.

I have to say, after doing some further reading and youtube searching about the NFL Kickoff show, this was a pretty phenomenal production. The sheer scale of what went on for this show is a little bit mind blowing, especially considering that they did it on the Harbor. I can't even begin to fathom the complexity of putting a show like that together with all of the FX, lighting, pyro, and sound. It must have taken months and months to coordinate something like that. All in a all, a very cool description of what went into that production. Here's a video of the performance off of youtube.

If I wasnt going to be a manager, I would definitely go into the event/special effects business. This was a pretty amazing show. If you are a company that is geared toward entertainment or events only, you should really look into expanding into the other industry! Seeing all the equipment and the brands used showcase many large and extraordinary effects companies. I think it would be cool to try and get on management of a show like this. I always thought that doing NFL, olympics or something of the sorts would be great experience. You might have a lot of time to plan but getting it all done on time is a challenge that we always talk about.
