Fictional 'Smash' Musical 'Hit List' Will Get Real-Life Debut
NYTimes.com: Fans of the NBC musical comedy-drama “Smash” — they were out there, and you know who you are — were bereft when this ratings-challenged series was canceled last spring, leaving audiences forever in the dark about the future of its roster of fictional Broadway stars and striving performers.

I've been waiting for either 'Hit List' or 'Bombshell' to be released as real life musicals. The original purpose of SMASH was to be able to create and workshop a new Broadway show on national television in order to ensure that it will be successful on Broadway. When they cancelled the show, I thought that this may not happen, but I am excited to see that they are bringing back members of the television series in order to put on this performance at 54 Below. I think that SMASH was an incredibly well thought out show in regards to workshopping a show and gaining an audience following, but unfortunately, some of the poorly written episodes, and low ratings, brought the curtain down on the shows so to speak. I am interested in seeing if this world-premiere concert will morph into a full realized production later on! It would be very interesting to see a new musical written and composed by so many various artists and see how well that can work.
YAY! I loved SMASH! It was a great show, though complete fiction. The music was always so good and it's definitely something I would love to see on a real stage! This concert will be fantastic. I personally loved the show but there were people where I worked over the summer who laughed at it and said that they made the industry look like a bowl of sweets and I actually got the opportunity to meet someone who was either in the cast or just working on the show (She plays Prof. Morrible in Wicked on Broadway) and she was commenting how inaccurate the show was. It crushed me on the inside a little, but I understood that television does tend to glamorize real life.
Besides that, I would love to see the concert! :D
This is wonderful news to hear, as a big fan of SMASH I was really upset when hearing it got cancelled. Now there is some hope to see more of what it was creating. The show was a great look at the process of getting a show ready for broadway and when it got cancelled I didn't think there shows would ever make it to a live stage. But look at it now they took the show that we have only seen pieces of on TV and created it to be something we can see on he stage! I definitely want the chance to see this show live!
