It was very interesting for me to read about a costume designer who has been able to do both theater and film because I am someone who is looking to work in film in the future. I think it is quite amazing how a theater education can be so applicable to film and how it can really elevate your work. I’m excited to learn more about theater and see the different ways I can apply to film. It is also really uplifting to see a designer be able to juggle both theater and film jobs and be equally successful in them. I do wonder about the difference between costume design work in theater vs film and how much you may have to cater your work to the medium. In the article, Zakowska did mention how it was a bit of a challenge in the show to keep the character consistent after all this time has passed in the story. I do feel like this is a problem that most costume designers in theater do not have to face. When making costumes for a show that has many episodes and seasons, you go through many different eras and ages of a character that can affect their costumes in a different way that a show in theater would.
