This article shows one of the times when innovation moves in the completely correct direction. With technology, it is all too easy to try to innovate to create a product that has more features, is cheaper to produce, is smaller, or overall just better to use. With all these considerations in mind, it can be far too easy to completely ignore the issue of sustainability. The materials we have are not unlimited, and can often hurt the environment. Continuously leaving these issues for the next generation only sets us up for failure. The lighting manufacturer Abstract is moving in the right direction when creating products that both are more functional and also are better for the environment. Change that includes both of these is the only type that sets the world up for more innovation in the future. When redesigning a product, you are given the unique opportunity to look back at what was done in the past and fix anything that could potentially be harmful.
