When I heard about this concept it seemed strange and too concluded to be produced in a mainstream and clean way, especially with the expectations that were set by such famous cameos i.e. Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Katherine McPhee, Bernadette Peters, etc. However, the more I read about it and consider it in the larger context of theater, I realize that it is pretty similar to other shows in exposition, so it seems doable. For example, the class show 42nd Street holds a basic idea of a struggling actor in the city, navigating the complicated social climate of Broadway and the emotional turmoil of audition processes. When I read the reviews for this show I was shocked by the many highly contrasting beliefs, personally I loved it and I believed it was a wonderfully entertaining show. That being said, I feel that if I were a producer on Broadway this is not a show I would thoughtfully pick out instead of others. It lacks ingenuity in ideas, and frankly I do not believe that it is what the audiences of Broadway want to see and hear right now.
