I think the ideas covered in this article are so very interesting; maker knowledge is definitely something that I have experienced and witnessed in the majority of my own creative work. It definitely brings a new layer of depth and interest to any piece of creative work being viewed and analyzed. Especially when it comes to more personal projects, I always choose to include intentional details despite knowing that to a general audience, it would not mean much. I like artist statements for this reason; they are able to reveal more about what the author, artist, creator was thinking that is not apparent, or sometimes even impossible to see, on the surface level. Sometimes, choosing to completely not reveal anything about a piece of maker knowledge can also be a personal design choice; the concept of a secret kept between the artist and their art is so fascinating and intimate.
