Mad Men to New Girl: Movies & TV Shows Set at The Prince Restaurant in LA
collider.com: If you’ve been rewatching one of your favorite 30-minute comedies and experiencing an odd sense of deja vu, you’re not alone. Though it’s common for LA-based productions to use the same filming locations from time to time, there is one iconic and instantly recognizable venue that continues to serve as Hollywood’s watering hole of choice.

I love it when I recognize a location in any given movie or t v show as it gives me a sense of the behind the scenes of the project and it is a fascinating look at how these pieces of media are produced. I’m fascinated by the information that can be gleaned just from seeing which of these classic locations a film crew chooses to or is able to film in because of factors like budget, scheduling, cast scheduling, and in recent years health concerns or the state of the pandemic. By seeing the locations chosen, and especially the recognizable ones seen in other media It is fascinating to be able to elucidate a wealth of information about the budget and production value of the piece you are viewing. I have also experienced crazy coincidences in which the same set, dressed exactly the same, is used in multiple productions that must have been filming at the same time.
Yessss. I know this restaurant. I think a part of what I miss about home is getting to see all the filming and famous spots around town. I wonder how these spots are scouted? I know that there is one house in a neighborhood I pass by that seems to almost always be used to film. I have never seen anyone living there, but it is a real residential neighborhood and it is a whole house, not just a deliberately built set.
On another note, I feel like when I recognize the place in a tv show or movie, I feel like it kind of ruins it for me since it pulls me out of the world on the screen. Like I used to really like NCIS, and I watch through almost all of the seasons, but somewhere in the middle I recognized a location that was set in Koreatown, LA (My neighborhood!!) but they were trying to pass it as somewhere in DC. My excitement kinda ruined the magic bc I spent the rest of the show, trying to look for any other places I recongized.
