Celebrating the history of a theatre space visually within that theatre space is definitely underrated. Some of my favorite parts of Purnell are the lobby displays and the frames photos of past productions. And when it was still happening--installations such as 'line and form.' I've heard nothing but positive reactions to the new season artwork, especially the addition of them to the lobby. It instills a pride in our space and our work. 33 is a perfect example: our work is constantly put up on the walls. Granted, this does include silly jokes and memories as well, but it still shows how putting some thought into curating displays pays off. The Kennedy Center has definitely made an effort to do so, and from a variety of patrons. I do like that they took submissions from younger audience members, but I think it would make more sense for the topic to be the cultural center and not necessarily JFK himself, even though it is named after him.
